Awards to PhD Students and Osmanagic-Myers/Podesser Collaborative Research Grant at the “Cardiovascular Medicine Cluster Annual Meeting”

Congratulations to PhD students, Eleonora Nardini and Irena Yordanova from the Osmanagic-Myers lab at our center, who won the Best Poster Award and the Talk Award, respectively, at this year’s Annual Meeting of the Cluster for Cardiovascular Medicine (CVC), held on November 11, 2024 in Vienna. This symposium brings together scientists from both basic and clinical areas of cardiovascular biology.

Eleonora’s research focuses on endothelial aging during the development of atherosclerosis, while Irena investigates mechanisms and microRNA-based treatment options for cardiovascular and age-related diseases. The CVC collaborative research grant was awarded to the Osmanagic-Myers group from our center, in collaboration with clinicians from Bruno Podesser’s group (Peter Pokreisz and Attila Kiss) at the Center for Biomedical Research and Translational Surgery, Medical University of Vienna. This research aims to explore microRNA-based therapeutic interventions in age-related atherosclerosis, utilizing the Genomics Core facility at the Medical University of Vienna (~5000€).
